Resurrection?

Well, I just read my last post (from late 2009, yikes!) and realized that my pledge to update was a miserable failure. Life gets in the way of writing about life, or something like that.

On the bright side, I am returning to Russia in about two and a half weeks to begin a year of dissertation research in the Soviet archives in Moscow. I hope to resurrect this blog as a way to keep family and friends updated about where I am, what I'm doing, and what I'm learning while in Russia.
